47th Congress of the Spanish Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (SEBBM), held in Cáceres from September 2 to 5, 2025, with special mention to the OCAILab group, which took part with four posters and a flash talk.
Organized by SEBBM, the congress brought together more than 600 national and international researchers and was hosted for the first time in Extremadura, highlighting a strong commitment to “bringing science closer to society.”
The program featured plenary lectures delivered by renowned scientists such as Roger Davis, Ana María Cuervo, Alexandra Newton, and Paola Pizzo, along with special lectures such as the “Leloir” and “Niemeyer” conferences.
The event also included activities open to the general public, such as the round table “Science that heals: more research, more life” (September 2), organized in collaboration with foundations such as CRIS against Cancer and FERO, as well as the scientific art exhibition “Art and Science. Epigenetics”, among other initiatives.
The OCAILab group played an active role by presenting four posters on congenital anemias and the inflammasome. The group’s PI, Ana Belén Pérez Oliva, contributed with an oral communication (flash talk).
Throughout the congress, the team exchanged insights and experiences with colleagues such as Luis Sánchez del Campo Ferrer and María Ángeles Núñez Sánchez, enriching scientific discussion and fostering collaborative networks.
